Dave’s List of Development Podcasts

Inspired by Scott’s post Hanselminutes – This is usually the podcast that helps to clarify some topic I had been meaning to learn more about. Sometimes a bit too focused on the web end of the spectrum, but still a solid source on what is out there and what is coming up.

Dave’s Bus Ride of Knowledge Podcasts on .NET Development

|Hanselminutes – This is usually the podcast that helps to clarify some topic I had been meaning to learn more about. Sometimes a bit too focused on the web end of the spectrum, but still a solid source on what is out there and what is coming up.|{:height=“auto” width=“1000px”}|

|ALT.NET Podcast – The Alt.NET movements tend to bounce between vocal and non-vocal phases, but always has an undercurrent of good ideas challenging the status quo presented by Mother Microsoft. In many ways, I see it as fitting the middle ground between total Microsoft adoption and rejection because it is from Microsoft. This podcast does a good job of discussing the hot topics of the day. Be prepared for the irregularity of episodes.|{:height=“auto” width=“1000px”}|

|CodeCast – This is a recent addition to my collection, and I have not yet formed any real opinions. What I have seen so far is that they publish frequently and cover a wide range of development topics. Watch this space for updates.|{:height=“auto” width=“1000px”}|

|Herding Code – This is another of the mainstays of my listening list. Besides loving the title, they publish regularly, cover all the hot topics, and have some pretty good interviews. The audio can occasionally be choppy, and format a bit to free-form, but it is always informative. Following every episode, there are always web sites or technology I am off to read up on.|{:height=“auto” width=“1000px”}|

|.NET Rocks – One of the most professionally done podcasts I listen to. They publish frequently, cover all the major and many minor topics, have set the standard, and has one of my favorite sections – Better Know a Framework.|image_15[1]{:height=“auto” width=“1000px”}|

|This Week on Channel 9 – This one is still on my list, but truthfully, I have not played it in a while. I will need to revisit soon and decide if it stays on my list. Overall, the content just hasn’t been that interesting for a while.|{:height=“auto” width=“500px”}|

I also listen to a number of courses released as podcasts from Stanford University, such as their iPhone Application Programming course. They have many development courses, and when I want to revisit a topic or even learn something new, they server the purpose quite well.

Given the list of podcasts I have not seen on Scott’s and others list, I have a feeling that I will be adding more to my list pretty soon.
